From their inception in 2023, Rose Lyon has pounced on the California music scene with scintillating performances throughout Northern California. Created from the solid experience of four veteran musicians, and an arsenal of well crafted songs, Rose Lyon has quickly garnered a loyal fanbase in California, as well as nationally.

While they present a 90's vibe in their music, their sound coasts through post-punk, loose rock, and recently more ambient and goth backdrops. Their sound is often celebrated as a combination of The B52's, PJ Harvey and The Pixies.

The main songwriter, Rose, has written songs her whole life, fronted several bands in SF, and had a highly successful run on college radio stations across the country with her release of "Bettie Black" in 2022. In 2023 Rose teamed up with well regarded local drummer Elizabeth Maes (Rock Boy, My Contention and ¡Me Vale!), who has a solid history of her own - working for decades in bands in Seattle and Sacramento. Well known musicians Zsue Olson (bass) and Dire Deparra (lead guitar) joined in Spring 2025.

Dire's symphonic guitar playing immediately launched the sound of the band into a new, atmospheric dimension that is raw and complex. With the solid and practiced playing of Elizabeth and Zsue as the rhythm section, they are a unique band that brings new texture to the California music scene. The songs themselves create an electrifying experience that ignite dancing in any audience.

Rose Lyon is about the redemptive power of music, but the gravity at the centre of it all is the actual band. Bands like this one aren't just about the songs, but about the human experience, liberation, and escaping the challenges of life for awhile.

They are currently playing live in the SF/Berkeley/Sacramento area, and writing new music for a forthcoming album to be released in late 2026.
